QS 9000
QS9000 is a standard applied within automotive industry. It has been prepared by Chrysler/Ford/General Motors group and contains the full version of the ISO 9001 standard plus other requirements mainly from the area of implementation of new products, approval of products by customer, application of selected methods, eligibility of processes and continuous improvement. Various levels of this standard's requirements must be met by every supplier to the automotive industry.
VDA 6
The VDA 6 volume deals with testing of the quality management system. It is based on the ISO standards and other requirements from the automotive industry. The most important are VDA 6.1 - Quality system auditing, VDA 6.3 - Process auditing and VDA 6.5 - Product Auditing. The VDA set contains also requirements and procedures specifying general requirements mainly in the area of methods, selection of suppliers, implementation and approval of new products etc.
ISO/TS 16949
TS16949 is a field standard uniting the existing global requirements of the automotive industry for the quality management system. It contains the full version of the ISO 9001 standard and other field requirements mainly from the area of customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. The specific requirements, e.g. procedures used for product approval follow the documents according to the customer's selection (AIAG, ANFIA, FIEV, VDA).
Meeting the QS 9000, VDA 6 and ISO/TS 16949 standard requirements you have to:
- Specify with the customer which of the requirements shall be applied and in what extent, and also the certification details,
- Begin to apply the procedure of approval of products introduced by customer and the documented settlement of problems,
- Create the quality system according to the determined standard using the same procedure as according to ISO 9001 while applying all identified requirements,
- Ensure training of employees and both the internal and external communication,
- Support/promote application of the required methods and the methods focused on continuous improvement,
- Monitor and test the quality system and its efficiency, to take preventive and remedial measures, to focus on the improvement projects.
